I am a Reiki practioner, I do CranioSacral bodywork, I am a qualified equine appraiser through the American Society of Equine Appraisers and a horse trainer. I concentrate on accentuating the communication relationship between horse and rider through their body language, energy and vocal tones. My work helps people discover an entirely new dimension in their equine endeavors. I live in the Bitter Root Valley on the western slope of Montana.
I grew up in Michigan. At age 14 my family moved to Australia and at 19, I came back to the USA to attend college at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. I received my Bachelors of Science in Animal Science (with a specialty in equine exercise physiology) in 1990. From there I traveled the country and worked for different outfits trying to round out my education and understanding of horses. Among my work stints I have worked polo in San Antonio, Texas (where I met and chatted with the actor Tommy Lee Jones), Rancho Sante Fe and Indio California; I worked for John and Betty Mabee at Golden Eagle Farm in Ramona, California as their Assistant Broodmare Manager for 2 1/2 years; and I worked at Warner Springs Ranch Resort in the equestrian center as a wrangler, trainer, instructor and clinician.
I am a reformed serial plant killer, now an avid, self taught and obsessive gardener. I have 35+ houseplants including a banana tree with 2 babies! I am on my 8th year of trying to win a case of honey at the local fair with my homemade honey products (which totally rock!).
When I lived in California I met my husband and we have journeyed through life, meeting the good and the bad head on for 19 years. I love to write and tell stories about my daily adventures and experiences with all the critters and people I meet. I have written 3 e-books in a series created and published through Holly Lisle. They are "The 33 Worst Mistakes Writers Make About Hunting", "The 33 Worst Mistakes Writers Make About Camping" and "The 33 Worst Mistakes Writers Make About Fishing". I have also written a self help, barn manual soon to be published in e-book form. I have written several articles for the Bitter Root Back Country Horseman, wrote all the copy for my website, created my website and I have spent a lot of time writing, critiquing and editing in different writing forums for others as they did for me.
I am always open to comment and/or constructive criticism because I believe improvements can always be attained, daily, no matter what you do. I am looking forward to writing articles here at Suite101 and hope to hear from you!
